NEW WORKS IN DEVELOPMENT
- 6.1.11 - It looks like it's been a while since I've updated this. In the past year,
the dance piece premiered and I've written a few more "Music for Insomniacs" pieces. You can find
the latest info on my music at
www.illustriousmusic.com.
- 4.10 - I've started work on a new piece called Body of Water for Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre.
It will be premiered 9/18 & 9/19 at the Martha B. Knoebel Theater in Long Beach, CA.
- 11.4.09 - I've started a new website for my publishing company (Illustrious Music) at
www.illustriousmusic.org.
- 2.1.09 - I've started a new website at
www.ersatzmusik.com. It's my new performance
outlet. Hopefully I can get something started with that. At least I have a site up, so that's
some sort of commitment, right?
- 12.26.08 - I'm starting on a little project of my own devising. It's a set of
acoustic ambient pieces, collectively
titled "Music for Insomniacs." The pieces will be composed on no more than three staves and will start out
with no specific instrumentation, so that they can later be orchestrated as needed (in many ways). They will
be slow in nature (otherwise how could someone fall asleep to them), and I'm guessing approximately five
minutes long each. I'm envisioning a realization for performance and recording using piano and clarinet,
but time will tell. I'm hoping this will get me to writing with some regularity, although I don't have
too high of hopes. These also fit nicely into a concept I have called "realistic music." "Realistic music"
is music that can be performed live at an acceptable level by competent musicians with no more than three
hours of rehearsal time. Stay tuned for developments on both.
